Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is a herb long used across East Asian apothecary practice to calm sensitive, irritated skin — including the delicate skin around the lips. It helps ease the redness and discomfort that comes with fragile, reactive lips.

Lilyturf root (Ophiopogon japonicus) is a herb traditionally used in Chinese medicine specifically for lip and lung health — prized for supporting fluid balance in the body, one of the traditional factors linked to persistently dry, uncomfortable lips.

Together with grapeseed oil and beeswax, they form a balm that both protects and nourishes — not just a wax coating that sits on the surface.

How to use it

Daily protection: Apply as needed throughout the day to clean lips, creating a protective layer. Avoid licking your lips — saliva actually dries lips out further — and avoid drinking directly from plastic bottles, as plastic residue can trigger reactions on sensitive lips.

Overnight repair mask: Apply a thick layer before bed as a substitute for a lip mask. This gives the balm more time to work, for a more efficient repair process.

Once finished: The outer tube is biodegradable paper. Remove the inner tube, soak the outer tube in water, cut it into pieces, and let it decompose in soil or food waste over a few months.

No. This balm contains no mica or added colourants — we kept the formula focused purely on repair, without the "fancy" tinted or shimmer effects found in many other lip balms that can get in the way of that process.

No artificial fragrance — the light herbaceous scent comes purely from the natural mugwort infusion. Some people describe it as smelling a little like matcha, which is simply the mugwort herb coming through — it fades quickly on the lips.
